CAA takes a student’s academic education just as seriously as their artistic one. Our dedicated faculty prepares students for whatever path they may choose in life through a college preparatory academic curriculum in an environment that is challenging and innovative.
Fred Schill, English Dept. Chair & Media Arts Dept. Chair
Our education is unique, as it allows students to explore subjects in a small classroom setting with supportive faculty. Our goal is to graduate students who have a better sense of themselves and the world around them. Ultimately, our students leave with a well-rounded education that has prepared them to succeed in life.
“How fortunate we are to have found a school such as CAA. They have challenged our son both academically and artistically, enabling him to find a focused direction for his talent. The dedication of the faculty as they educate and encourage their students in their chosen disciplines, while preparing them for college is admirable. The administration, faculty, and students together create an energetic, warm, accepting, nurturing, and yet challenging atmosphere at the school not often seen.”
Steve Stratton, Alumni Parent
SCIENCE
The Science program at CAA appears traditional at first glance; however, the program is designed to recognize the unique profile of the student body and attempts to align its high program standards with student goals and aspirations in the arts. Back to Top MATH
The mathematics department at CAA prepares young artists with the skill of computational reasoning with an emphasis in four primary areas: artistic correlation, conceptual accuracy, problem solving, and tool utilization. The curriculum complements the instruction of the academic and artistic development within our school, forging a link between deductive reasoning, composition, proportion and expression. Students learn the foundation of mathematic principles through terminology and application, and we stress the attributes of determination, process and self-discipline as essential and integral components to both art and arithmetic. We provide a challenging environment where students receive instruction to prepare for the demands of our society and culture. Each course design contains differentiated instruction to assess, inspire, challenge and encourage individuals, regardless of skill level, to attain excellence and satisfaction in their work. Back to Top HUMANITIES
Within the Humanities Department, students study English, Social Studies, World Language and Electives. Our department introduces students to a thorough curriculum that is both challenging and stimulating, and offers discussion of important ideas and texts using methods that are primarily analytic, critical, and speculative. Our faculty believes that language, discussion, reflection and imagination lead to the development of skills which help our students understand and interpret the human experience. Our curriculum employs students to develop a personal consciousness or an active sense of civic duty. The ability to understand the human experience outside of one’s own individual social and cultural context allows students to develop a conscience more suited to the multicultural world in which we live.
